You are right, I don’t remember who won when Vanessa Williams was disqualified. I think most beauty queens are not memorable people because they are so much like each other. Sometimes it is the bad things which can make us good and even better.
I would go so far as to suggest that licking anything is suggestive by definition… I’d like someone to demonstrate non-suggestive licking, please.
Anyway, that was an interesting experiment there, akalol. I once got over 300 hits on one day and I later found out it was because I posted a pic of hunky Jamie Bamber and some fan site linked to it.
Concepts of beauty and sexual allure have always fascinated me. Especially since there is a cultural difference, and beauty and sexual performance don’t generally go hand in hand.
As for the competition, it clearly stands for nothing. After removing women who have been pregnant and married from competing , (in the name of “feminine purity”?) removing someone for provocative photos makes no sense. Or have they changed the marriage/child regulation? The competition doesn’t stand for anything either way, isn’t that obvious to everyone?
Liane, the old saying that sex, whether implied or in licking form, sells is even more true today. Surely guys don’t hang around the gym just to pick up their wives and girlfriends, or other people’s wives and girlfriends. It is for the suggestive sights. Similarly, people don’t hang around an ice cream parlor to see people eat frozen yogurt with a spoon. It is the cones they are are after 🙂
Laurazee, I agree that all “beauty” competitions are bogus and pretentious but some people are willing to go along with the charade. The women who win these competitions are too inert and fake to generate any real interest in the modern and real world. That is why these competitions go unnoticed unless there is something brewing called a scandal. These competitions are saying that once a woman becomes pregnant and has a child she is no longer worthy and cannot be considered a beauty. Rubbish. I suppose a competition like Miss Universe can be renamed Miss Virgin Universe and ice cream cones and condensed milk banned from the competition area.
