Crimes and Misdemeanors

Here is another quote from a Woody Allen Movie – Crimes and Misdemeanors:

Quote:
We’re all faced throughout our lives with agonizing decisions, moral choices. Some are on a grand scale, most of these choices are on lesser points. But we define ourselves by the choices we have made. We are, in fact, the sum total of our choices. Events unfold so unpredictably, so unfairly, Human happiness does not seem to be included in the design of creation. It is only we, with our capacity to love that give meaning to the indifferent universe. And yet, most human beings seem to have the ability to keep trying and even try to find joy from simple things, like their family, their work, and from the hope that future generations might understand more.

  1. i beg to differ – we are not the sum total of our choices.
most times it’s just b/c of crappy circumstances beyond our control

Yep, and that is why I have a hard time accepting the theory of karma (The law of cause and effect) fully.

  3. On the other hand, we shouldn’t let our lives be only determined by circumstance. Bad things happen to good people and that can make us cynical. If circumstance and cynicism were left to determine our lives then that would be the real tragedy.

  4. Hmmm… Well thought out quote selection

For this one, I’ll stick to what u said before “I think, therefore I’m confused” 🙂
