Eliminating as many touches as possible will certainly help. Installing hands free door openers (like StepNpull) on public restroom doors is one way to reduce the spread of germs.

Aby, life isn't funny, it only appears that way :)

Chica, thanks for all the medical info on H1N1. I see it has now spread to South America - Colombia - for the first time.

Thank's for posting those little helpful hint's, they are allways valuble. The Flu is continus to spread, has reached 18 countries as of now. The good news are, it's (mild so far) and not everybody will get it! Nontheless it pays to be prepared.

Now the monday and friday symptoms that you have mentioned are found over here as well. I have a few coworkers who suffer from that on a regular basis.

More info from Chica, who is not from Trinidad and Tobago:-

...on the dishtowel, it does not need to be in the freezer just wet and since infants and lil children do not have enough body mass you can wet a T shirt and have them wear it. Some of the body heat will evaporate with the water and reduce the fever if it is repeated.

Here is a good link about what is happening right now and what could happen.

The following was emailed to me by Chica - If you have noticed the the major news agencies around the globe have stopped reporting in detail, that is because as of yesterday there are confirmed cases of human to human transfer of the virus.(Germany,Uk and Spain) and it is spreading. A nurse in germany for instance got sick 4 days ago and is well again. It is good that the detailed reporting has stopped, so people will not panic. A few tips would be helpful though, as there are people who do not have a medicine cabinet stacked with regular helpful meds and there are people with children as well. The good news is that this flu is relatively mild compared to others and most people will not even need Tamiflu. If one has fever reducing ,anti diarrhea/vomit meds at home that will be enough. Sports drinks are good but one can also make their own with water and a lil salt. Saltine crackers and instant chicken broth are also helpful. For people with children that get sick, saltine crackers and coke are good. For infants that are bottle fed, half a glass of baby carrots in the bottle helps against diarrhea. If one does not have fever reducing meds at home one can wet a dishtowel, wring it out and put it in the freezer for a bit and then roll it around the sick persons calfs, that will get the fever down too. Those are simple but helpful hints.
