Slumdog Millionaire is an against-all-odds love story and like all love stories it is based on loneliness, courage, hope, and destiny. It is a very clever movie that uses the popular game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire to highlight the hardships billions have to endure to survive.
Slumdog Millionaire is based on the people from the slums of India but it could be the slums anywhere in the world. The movie triumphs because it takes the viewer from sadness to improbable happiness. Slumdog Millionaire does have a happy end but the misery, evil and injustice the movie presents remains in the minds of the audience. Slumdog Millionaire is not a movie that was made to win awards or to highlight the skills of moviemakers but it was a movie that was made to touch your soul.

Surprise. Last week it was showing on Guyana tv…and it was compelling and I liked the way it was shot etc. Need to watch it legitimately from beginning to end.

The TV in Guyana sounds “interesting”
Slumdog has not been released in TnT as yet and I am not sure if it ever will. I did manage to get an official screener and the quality was great. I hate to look at movies copied by a camcorder seated next to a popcorn munching best friend.

Film is not “celebration of creativity”…..it is just any other movie made with goody-goody feel on human relationship and Love prevails non-sense. It is just that it is made by a westerner and distributed by “Fox Searchlight Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures”…hence it made a global opening….
India is portrayed as a pathetic slum which west wanted to see as they do not want to tarnish the image which they comply with.
Rest stupidity of congress to take the credit is cheap and they should try to do something for country rather than taking a bath in the glory of some movie.

A good movie always does two things. It makes most happy and it also offends some. Those two categories of people are the ones who make the movie what it is.
